Another Rainy Day Here In Rolette

So it's another rainy day here in Rolette and I'm trying not to get all down about it but I am missing the sun. Sunday was a welcomed gift from God with all the sunshine. It wasn't anywhere near hot but I could actually see the sun and that's all I cared about. Sunday was a little bit of a lazy day but a lot happened at the same time. I woke up and went to church. After that I laid down for a little bit and my friends Jeff and Tyler came and picked me up to go fishing. I didn't catch anything and discovered I'm not so patient. Youth group was really good and then I went to Kayla's house. We went to Rugby and then stayed up too late talking. I woke up at 7 the next morning and went to my grandma's where my parents picked me up so we could go shopping in Minot. I helped my dad pick out clothes in JC Pennies and it was actually a lot of fun. He was laughing which is always a good sign with my dad. I got a little spoiled and mom actually paid for my clothes (that hasn't happened a lot since I started working) for the wedding. I almost lost my temper with Mark when he complained for 10 minutes straight so I decided I needed to be by myself a little bit and sat in the car and fell asleep again. Hmm sleep. I have not gotten a lot of sleep since Saturday so I am deffinately taking a little nap today. Anway. Mom and I drove seperately from the boys since they all had to go to Menards ( sad ) and us girls went home later and took my grandma out to eat. I love grandma so much. She's the sweetest person and makes me laugh and smile so much. :) When we finally made it back home I ended up taking notes for college speech until after 2:00 am. Oofta. College speech went well this morning even though I was falling asleep in my chair. So that brings me to right now. I'm just waiting to go home and avoiding doing my homework because that's what I do. I suppose I could wrap this up and find something more "productive" as my mom says. :) I hope you all are doing great. Take care and God bless.

Friday, May 25, 2007

It's 1:39 as I start this and so far my day has been one of being cold, bored, scared, and finally relaxed. Hmm it kind of sounds like the beginning of a horror story but :) it's not. This morning was the usual routine of waking up and getting ready. I was a little snappy this morning but realized it and apologized for it. I haven't slept the greatest the last two nights. Anywho. I got to the school for college speech and was deathly terrified to give my demo speech. I, of course not thinking, sat in the front of the room and had to go 4th. It taught me a lesson, always sit in the back, even if you are as blind as a bat. My speech went a lot better than I thought and then came the cold time. A few of the guys did their speeches outside because they were showing us how to do things like prep a dirt bike for a race, and change a propeller on a boat, Cody even got the firetruck from downtown and showed us all of his gear and the fun sirens:P yes ..simple minds simple pleasures I know. =) It's chilly outside. It has been cloudy and rainy for almost a week and I'm ready for the sun to come out. After listening to over 2 hours of speeches we took two chapters worth of notes and took a test that was really long but not hard. (We got to use our notes) This was the boring part. I'm so thankful for the weekend. I don't have to be back in the classroom until Tuesday. Yahoo!
In two hours I get to go to work at the restaurant and it's weird but I'm actually excited. I think by 9:00 tonight though I will be ready to sleep. Last week I asked Chris (George's son who runs it when George is gone) if we could all just crash in the booths. Needless to say he laughed and told me no. The restaurant had some improvements though. Cindy and George (the owners) added some plants to the restaurant. Not the little potted plants but big tree looking things. Soon we're supposed to get tile floors. (we're moving up the world:P) I haven't decided if sweeping and mopping will be easier than vacuuming but I have my doubts. Tonight is Friday so it will be busy which means stress and running. I really hope the soda isn't fizzy. Moving on...

Last night nothing too exciting happened.Mom and I left and made some supper for her church meeting. Every year the people who donate to the cemetery and church get together for a potluck meal and a meeting. I love how I don't know any of the people's names but they seem to know everything about me =) I just hug them and pretend I know them. I kind of ate and ran since I had to prep for my speech today. I fell asleep on top of my books and then I got a phone call from Jhoan that woke me up. Mark tried to steal my M&M's while I was on the phone (the special ones, I didn't let him though. I don't mind sharing but not those.) I worked on my speech again after I woke up but my mind was a little slow so I ended up staying awake until 12 learning my information. Oofta (Uff da if you're technical)
My mom just informed me that tomorrow is the community auction. That normally gets done around 6:00 p.m. meaning that EVERYBODY in town is going to come to the restaurant. okay so maybe I exaggerated a little bit but it's going to be insane. Maybe mom will let me sleep in tomorrow so I have some extra rest built up. On days where it's busy at work my mind goes crazy. It's a stressful feeling when your 8 tables are packed with 5-10 people and then there are people standing and waiting for tables, and you have to get drinks, get food and keep alllllll those people happy. It's both stressful but fun. I love people. Actually I take that back. I love most people. :) The 80 year old couples who come in on dates are adorable. A few weeks back a guy named Junior came in with his girlfriend. He was taking her to the movie after they ate. I am guessing that they are both around 75 years old and they held hands across the table and awww. haha okay I'm sorry. I'll stop now. =)
Hmm what else can I ramble on? Oh I know. College/Future. So Mom and I had a discussion yesterday about what on earth I am supposed to do in my future. I remember back in the good old days when I was five and I had my heart set on being a doctor. That all changed when mom started watching ER. Then I wanted to be a vet but I couldn't stand the idea of putting animals to sleep. Then of course I went through the phase of wanting to be a flight attendant but that went out the door when I realized I wouldn't be able to have much of a family life and that's something that I'm not willing to sacrifice at all. (Yes I have those dreams of a house, family and maybe a dog or cat. ohhh how about chickens?? ;) Then I decided to hand it all over to God. That's easier said than done obviously since I am still worrying about it. Well, worrying isn't the word. Maybe I'm just excited to do something instead of thinking about it, and want to know exactly what it is that I WILL be doing. Does that make any sense? There was a time in Bosnia when I really felt like I was supposed to go to missionary school at YWAM. I know that God has something in store for me that has to do with working with people directly. So for now I have boiled it down to teaching, missionary work, or some sort of business work where I can interact with people (not being stuck behind a desk) I think the business will soon be kicked out the door though. God has given me this passion for culture and language though.. so maybe somehow that will be worked into the future as well. haha okay so I am crazy. Live one day at a time Mary.
Alrighty I have jabbered enough. I will go put on some socks (me toesies are FREEZING!) and chit chat with my mom. =) I hope y'all are doing fine. God bless you all. Cao cao! (I'm going through my missingBosnia phase, sorry

Today so far

So far today has been a great day:) I woke up to a wonderful phone call and then got ready for college speech. I was a little nervous but ended up being rather bored for the first day. Since I am in speech and took a semester of it last year in school so far it is a lot of review. I am excited for the challenge though. The teacher warned me that she expects a lot from her 'speech kids' as she calls us and that means I will have to work at it quite a bit.
Last night I got a phone call from my brother Mike. He, his wife, and his son flew home from Bosnia yesterday and into Florence, SC to Jenn's family's house. We are all going to Florida for Bryan's wedding and I'm so excited to see Jenn's mom (I flew with her to Bosnia last year). I actually got to talk to Vickie over the phone yesterday for the first time and I will admit that I shed a few tears. I can't believe I will see my little Caleb! Vickie says he's huge and talking up a storm. =) Just talking to Vickie made me get my southern accent back for about an hour. That means that Y'all will once again be a part of my everyday speech (hehe sorry Mike) I'm not alone in the Y'all department though. I talked to Kent last night and he says it too. Whoo hoo:P Anyway. At the wedding I will also get to meet my new sister-in-law Amy, and my niece Brooke=) Aww I love family.
For the rest of the day I will be at home cooking and working on speeches. Maybe Mom and I will watch a movie. We haven't done that for a while. Oh this is something that I reread in my email stash ( why does that look like it's spelled wrong?) It's just some random thing and I was bored so here you go. Take care everybody and God bless.

May

Smile:D Everyonce in a while I can be a goofball right? Well Sammy and I decided to sit in her car and talk for an hour. There are about 30 pictures of us acting like little kids but this one hopefully makes you smile.

May was an extremely busy month and I finally have time to write on here. Where to start?

I think I saw that my last blog was May 16th. School finished the next day and it was a wierd feeling. The seniors were only there for about 20 minutes and then they were gone. It was a small preview of what next year will be like and it was so different... change is a part of life and there is always good to it, even when it doesn't feel like it. The last day of school all the teachers were bouncing off the walls about as much as the kids. I guess we weren't the only ones excited to be done for a few months. Awards came and went and then we were free. I had a few hours off between school and work so I got to talk to Mike for a little bit over MSN messenger. Work went well. We had a huge party of 30 people from St. Ann's Catholic church in Belcourt. They were a lot of fun to wait on. There was also a group of 14 from Rugby school's FFA team. Needless to say it was a busy night. The next night (Friday) we had another huge group of 40 people for a wedding rehearsal dinner. I didn't actually work the party but I had the other 8 tables in the restaurant. Saturday night was wonderful. No big reservations, and it was steady and semi slow. I finally got to relax=) yay. I came home from work and got music ready for church the next morning. I love worship music. I love the feeling of closeness to God that it brings. I sat there getting music ready and I must have spent a good hour and a half just singing. The next morning church was interesting. After church Mike called from Iraq and we talked until I had to leave for Graduation. I cried during grad for a straight hour. I am not sure if it was because of my friends leaving or because of my other friends who constantly reminded me that in a year we would be the ones on the stage. The idea of leaving home is something that I have always looked forward to because it means adventure and new things. As I get older though I know now how much I love home and the comforts it offers.

After Graduation I went out to my friend Kacie's house for a good 6 hours and got a cold from wearing a dress in her garage that was not heated quite enough. Now it's Tuesday and I'm procrastinating donig my homework for college speech, of course. My girls and I are going to eat at the cafe in twenty minutes and we'll probably end up talking for at least an hour. There are so many blessings in my life, and the biggest are my family and wonderful friends. God is so good.

I should wrap this up and finish a little homework before I go so take care and talk to you soon.

Hi everybody

So this little cutie is my nephew Caleb. The picture was taken a while ago while he was in his "monkey stage" My brother Mike says he has no idea how Caleb got into his drawer, but he liked it up there a lot. :) sounds like a Wibe

This is what we did in phy ed yesterday. My entire class watched Thompson, Allan, and Eric play Jenga. It took a while to get it to fall.

Yeah so this picture is scary but it's in Algebra which is a morning class so scary is to be expected. This is my beautiful Becca and I:) (very thankful to be done with Algebra 2 FOREVER!!!!)
Hola, Cao, Hi,

So today was pretty much the last day for the year. After tomorrow I am officially a SENIOR! yay! Tomorrow will consist of watching movies and sitting through an hour or so of awards. Oh and I have to go to graduation practice. I cleaned out my locker today which was a little sad. I found pictures of Kent and Mike and the rest of my family during Christmas. Every year, the last few days are both really really welcomed, but very sad. It will be so strange to come back next year and not have Kacie and the rest of the seniors. We cleaned up the school today and kind of just relaxed. I got my algebra two final back and got a B+ on it which I'm not exactly happy about but, it could be worse. I did my best and that's all that matters.

My poor little brother is sick with a nasty flu:( Mom is at home right now with him which means I get to clean the house and make supper. I don't mind but I really hope that I don't end up with his flu. Other than that not too much is going on around here. The weather is a tad bit chillier than last week. I will have to mow the grass soon.

I'll wrap this up and try to write back if anything exciting happens. Take care everybody and God bless you :)

Okay so this is a picture of me and my latest addictions. Coke and Twix.. the coke has been a long time "battle" shall we say? But Mike (yes you) got my started on the Twix.

Marko fell asleep in the truck and he just looked so silly and cute I had to put it on here. I'm such a sweet big sister eh?

A flag on main street.. just a random photo

Ohh so I bought some flowers and am actually determined to keep them a live. Please pray:) hehe they need it.

This is my cat's safe zone. On top of the new car. This way my uncles new dog can't get him. Poor Stevie

The apple trees? or whatever type of tree they are, are blooming and they're gorgeous.

Hi ya'll
So I'm in an extremely good mood. God is good and so is life even when it's stressful beyond words with finals and such. Only 4 more days of school YAHOOOO. Sorry, that was a little too enthusiastic but hey, I am looking forward to some freedom. The weather is being gorgeous. Of course, today was mothers day and we had a fun day at home. My friend Kayla came and spent the night, we watched movies and talked until too late. This morning we were a tad bit lazy getting out of bed but she had to be at work by 11 and I had church at 9:30 so it all worked out. Church was neat and then my dad and I went home and I set table/made drinks while he learned how to cook a turkey:P My mom was pretty excited. The food was pretty much exactly what we eat for Thanksgiving and I really didn't mind. I love food. It's so good. :) I washed up the thousand dishes we used and then my whole family sat down and watched a movie together. I am now in town because I have youth group. We're having a bon fire and eating hotdogs(more food YES) Tomorrow in school we have a history final and then Tuesday is the Algebra two final which I'm a little nervous for, okay so I lied.. I'm a lot nervous for. Oh and I found out that I am an usher for graduation which means I will have to wear a dress. No problem for me of course because I like excuses to get all fancied up. Anywho this is just another anonymous (I think I spelled that wrong) rambling post. The weather is beautiful just in case you were wondering. All the trees are turning green and the temperature hit the 80's! It was nice. Oh and I got a little burned on my shoulders. Mary will soon be called the freckle monster. Oh well I suppose I should wrap this up and get my tush in gear. I am a little late for youth. Take care and God bless everybody:)

Golf

My little smiley face. Obviously I was attempting to avoid actually hitting the ball since I knew it wasn't going to be pretty

My lovely addition the the beauty of the ground. I think I hit more dirt that balls and at least half of the time the dirt flew further than the ball.

The little ball in the hole. Okay so gophers have invaded the field where we golf at. Only at talented golfer like myself could hit a golf ball into the gopher hole =) hehe. I actually couldn't get the ball out and it dropped even further into the hole so I hope the gopher enjoys it.

This is the field after we all finished hitting our balls. We would go and collect them all and we made the comparison to an easter egg hunt or something:) Did I mention that we all hate gym class and do whatever we can to make it at least entertaining?

So I'm on my lunch hour right now. (okay so it's only 20 minutes not an hour) School was pretty fun today so far. We got to go outside for first hour to take our history notes again. Second hour freaked me out a little because we got our final study guide in Algebra 2 which is not exactly fun. Third hour we did speeches for the thousandth time. Last hour we were golfing. We'll just say that Mary is not a very talented golfer. I like mini golf if that counts=) Anyway here is some proof that I'm not so great at it. Have a great day everybody.

=)

Hi Y'all
So right now I am sitting in my dad's office when I should be outside taking full advantage of this amazing weather. The sun has finally decided to come out (without the famous North Dakota wind) and it's gorgeous. I should go work on my tan aka my burn:) Maybe then I won't blend in with my white walls right Mike? Anway:) I promised I would try to write about something meaningful so we'll see how I do today. The last week have gone amazingly fast yet at the same time seem to be going so slow. Finals are starting soon in school and I actually am going to have to study this time. No staying up and having cram sessions since I don't think my head could handle it this year. Being a junior means harder classes and the unavoidable headaches come with it. So all last week I spent hours upon hours at the school decorating for prom and then Saturday the actual prom took place. Sunday I slept.. and slept.. and slept with a few interruptions (not really interruptions since they were phone calls from Kent) Monday I went to school of course and got a little stressed out with make-up homework from Friday. I had to do a history test and an algebra 2 quiz. The minute the last bell rang, Kacie (the girl in the beautiful red dress below) and I went to her house to get ready for Junior Senior banquet. We spent 2 hours getting all dressed up and such and putting our prom dresses back on to go back to the school. She tied my dress a little tight and I couldn't breath let alone eat all the yummy food that had been prepared by the Junior class Mom's. I also had to give that lovely speech. I was prepared well enough but when I got up to speak, there was no microphone. I had to yell my speech which was pretty entertaining to everybody (including myself) Oh well=) the cake and food was worth it. I'm a softy for food.
It was a goodnight last night though because our old history teacher, Mr. Entzi, came back to be our speaker. We haven't seen him for at least a year, since he had to move when his brother got killed in a farm accident. His speech was really funny and the poor guy was so nervous. I was sitting next to the podium where he was speaking and I could see his papers shaking in his hands. I wanted to just give him a hug and tell him to breath. That he had taught us for so many years and stood in front of all of us and spoke at least a thousand times:) It was great to have him back, even if it was just for a few hours.

So back to my little quote thing from a long time ago. The reason I have talked about quotes is because my class had to come up with one for graduation next year and putting "quotes" into the google search gets you all sorts of things, especially insurance. I left my paper of them back at school in my speech folder but I can remember a few so here you go (if you're even slightly interested =)

Life isn't about how many breaths you take, but about how many moments take your breath away (so maybe I'm a girly girl but this kind of makes me go "awww". Yes I am a goofball)

We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give ( how true is that? Giving is just as great, if not better than getting)

Okay so I'm going to wrap this up and go for a walk. Then maybe I'll head over to the tastee freeze and get a chocolate sundea with hot fudge.. hmm yum. I do believe I am a choco-holic. =) Take care y'all and God bless you tremendously:)

Okay so once again I am keeping this short simply because there is not enough time in a day. Today I had to make up 3 tests and decorate for Junior/Senior Banquet. I'm pretty excited for tonights banquet except that i have to give a speech ( and no I have not written it yet. Oopsies) Here are some more pictures. It seems like every year at this time I get really picture happy and I figured out how the picture thing works on here so sorry for plastering it with pictures:)

Nothing Really Important

Kacie and I at the student council convention this past December
Becca and I at state speech this weekend while we were hanging out with my mom and Mike
Hmm very "bright" picture of Mike and I at the airport right before he took off.
My speech team at the meet in Devils Lake.
My dad's old employee Jack (like my second Dad) came to see me at a speech meet this year. It was great to see him again =)

Okay so this is another random post. It's been a little while because I don't have access to internet from my house anymore. I have to keep this really short for now because I have to go to class in about 5 minutes. (Lunch should be longer) I will find sometime later today or tomorrow to tell you all about my weekend and today. =) Here's some more random pictures too.. I think I like the whole "random" theme. Take care y'all =) God Bless
